Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEM) is the preferred means for the treatment of large rectal adenomas and early rectal cancers. It is a minimally invasive technique without the risks of major radical surgery. Colchester Hospital University Foundation Trust is the provider of the TEM surgery service in the Essex Cancer Network with a wide experience in the treatment of early rectal cancers and circumferential adenomas. The TEM service is led by Mr. Matthew Tutton and TEM courses are run annually. This TEM course is a practical course and aims to provide delegates with the technical skills to perform TEM surgery independently.
