Colorectal surgeons Newcastle team consists of two colorectal / general surgeons.

 

Dr Paul Anseline is a very experienced senior colorectal surgeon who was practising in these premises until December 2012. He is a specialist colorectal surgeon. He graduated from Sydney University and obtained his FRACS followed by specialised colorectal training at Cleveland clinic, USA. He has retired from surgical consultation but remains actively involved in patient discussions and operations to assist Dr Anil Koshy.

 

Dr Anil Koshy completed his internship, basic and advanced surgical training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. He then did a year of colorectal research and obtained his Master of Surgery from Sydney University. Following this he spent three years doing specialist training in colorectal surgery at Fremantle Hospital, and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, through the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ).

 

This was followed by an additional year working at the John Goligher Colorectal Unit, St James University Hospital, Leeds, United Kingdom super specializing in keyhole and advanced complex pelvic surgery including pelvic exenterations.

 

John Goligher Colorectal unit, St James University Hospital, Leeds, United Kingdom is  a major tertiary referral centre in Europe and World renowned for management of colon cancer, rectal cancer , complex locally advanced colorectal cancers and recurrent rectal cancer cases.
